  Seeking direction from the senior staff representative and CMG management, staff representatives are responsible for supporting, guiding and helping location, branch and the national executives function in the interests of the membership at large. They participate in branch collective bargaining as assigned, and are responsible for the administration of the collective agreements, including overseeing grievances and arbitrations where required. They ensure that CMG, TNG and CWA policies are followed, as applicable. The staff representative: • Ensures that communication among members and the political leadership is ongoing; • Engages and trains elected executives, stewards and members to play active roles within CMG; • Builds constructive relationships with the employers using a variety of tools, including negotiation and conflict resolution; • Responds promptly and effectively to member needs and takes accountability for strategic resolution of a wide array of workplace problems; • Supports the work of CMG committees as required.
