Jason Dunning
Olaf Scholtysek is one of the longest standing employees at Nyrstar's El Mochito mine site in Honduras, and it has been my pleasure mentoring his work under the Technical Services group at the Mine site. Over the last two years, I have had the chance to observe, work with, coach, and directly manage Olaf, as he attended to his duties of managing Exploration activities and all drilling at El Mochito. In addition, Olaf was the site champion in regards to technical and administrative functions of Mineral Resources and Mineral Reserves. The information was always provided on time and in accordance to established industry best practices, and always worked for continual improvement. Olaf has demonstrated an advanced-level knowledge in geology, exploration and both Mineral Resource and Reserve estimation processes within the Brownfield environment. Olaf also possesses very strong analytical and technical expertise, which will only grow through further training and industry experience, as he has a strong desire for professional development. He has shown both flexibility and professionalism in all of the projects assigned to him.
William Vanderwall
Olaf was my direct report for 4 years. He is an exceptionally bright young geologist with an excellent work ethic. His duties while I was his supervisor included: Resource and reserve estimations, maintenance of the geological databases, underground and surface exploration and delineation drillling plans and supervision, underground "beat" geologist, supervision of samplers, core logging, model to mine and model to mill reconciliation, site assay lab to commercial lab reconciliation and other projects as requested. Olaf did a very good job on all his assignments. He has earned my highest recommendation.

Minera Media Luna, Media Luna Project, Guerrero State, Mexico; a Au-Cu-Ag skarn deposit. Main achievement: Reduction of time and money invested to complete the first stage of the Infill Drilling Program. The program upgraded inferred resources of the Media Luna deposit to indicated category by drilling 165 diamond drill holes. To complete this drilling program in time and budget alternative drilling methods had to be evaluated and implemented. This included the use of wedges for corrective and directional purposes and the implementation of Directional Drilling with the Azidrill tool. The time needed to complete the infill program was reduced significantly implementing these alternative drilling methods (compared to the originally planned standard drilling). By changing the drilling methods, the cost for the drilling program was also reduced on a price per target. Responsibilities include: Leading the Exploration Team (in cross shift with Chief Geologist). Direct supervision and mentoring of up to 4 Project and 5 Junior Geologists. Analyze geochemical and geometallurgical data (in collaboration with consultants working on the feasibility study) to improve mineralogical and geological understanding of the deposit and use gained knowledge to create 3D models for mine planning. Communicating with and guide drilling contractors and external consultants involved in the feasibility study. Assist to project management with due consideration to Safety, Environment, and Community Relations. Develop and maintain procedure manuals and constantly audit executed works. Ensure proper data collection according to industrial standards. Elaborate weekly and monthly reports for senior management. The work involves the use of various software programs including Leapfrog, ioGAS, and Microsoft Office. Show less
