I currently teach graduate and undergraduate courses in the Department of Agricultural Economics, Federal University of Technology, Owerri Nigeria. My research efforts include: Effect of Land Grabbing on Agricultural Growth and Food Security in Nigeria. This was a ground breaking research work which focused on large scale acquisitions of arable land in Nigeria by foreign agricultural firms and the effect on the Country’s agricultural growth and food security. Using time series data spanning over three decades, and econometric models like the ARDL, VECM and VAR as well as trend models, the study showed the short term and long term effects of land grabbing on per capita agricultural gross domestic product, agricultural productivity of investment and food security of the Country. I have also studied the Effect of the Second National Fadama Project on the Income and Welfare of Farm Households in Imo State, Nigeria. This research set out to evaluate the impact this collaborative project between the Federal Government of Nigeria and the World Bank had on project beneficiaries. Other research efforts include: Vulnerability of Food Crop Farmers to Climate Change in South Eastern Nigeria and Assessment of Risk Management Strategies Among Arable Crop Farmers in Owerri West Local Government Area of Imo State among others. As an agricultural project management consultant, I have performed Beneficiary Impact Assessment of FGN/IFAD Value Chain Development Project as well as the Social Impact Assessment of the Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project L-PRES in Anambra State of Nigeria. I have attended several local and international conferences and Workshops. I am a member of several learned and professional associations including the Nigerian Association of Agricultural Economists, Agriculture Society of Nigeria and the Farm Management Association of Nigeria. I mentor young people and I am involved in several community and rural development organizations. Show less
