Functional Family Therapist- Cross Generations (FFT-CG)
-
Feb 2020 - Present
"The Functional Family Therapy – Cross Generations programme (FFT-CG) supports family/whānau to reduce their involvement with the New Zealand justice system. It’s designed for young people aged 10-24 years and their family/whānau. Our highly-trained therapists meet with whānau in their homes (or other convenient locations) and work with them to: Reduce the risk of re-offending Strengthen family relationships Improve the way family members interact and communicate with each other Improve family wellbeing by reducing aggression and conflict in the home Help young people stay in the home or transition successfully to independent living Help young people either stay in or return to school, training or employment." I completed a student placement for three months at Glenfield College, on Auckland's North Shore. I worked alongside Special Education Needs Co-ordinator (SENCO) Chrissy Jones and a number of incredible teacher aid's to support the learning needs of young people within a classroom environment. Alongside the educational aspirations, I also established and supported emotional, social and safety needs of the students.
