After the successful spin off of DBx from the Signal Group in May ’22, I collaborated with the DBx London team and oversaw the design and development of a new satellite based stockpile monitoring system based on the fusion of shipping and remote sensing data. In parallel, I worked on extending the product with new and improved features and participated in the evaluation and recruitment of new members for the Data Science team. Introduced best practices for coding and version control and set up market driven metrics for live monitoring of existing solutions. Designed and developed the data pipeline behind the main dashboard of the DBx product. Created and delivered in production ML based solutions for classification of Voyage Cargo as well as Time Series Forecasting for export and import operations. From December 2018 until June 2019 I was a member of the research group that worked on the Providentia project, within the area of Automated and Connected driving. I improved significantly the efficiency of the team by creating a ROS tool for accurate manual extrinsic calibration of the various camera and radar sensors used in the project. Moreover, I developed several computer vision as well as deep learning methods for sensor calibration and data fusion. From July 2019 until March 2020, I was a member of the autonomous driving research group. There, I acquired hands on experience on a vehicle equipped with sensors such as cameras, LiDARs and radars and I focused on the extension of Baidu's Apollo framework for this new vehicle. More specifically, I developed C++ modules to parse the CAN bus data and radar detections, as well as new extensions for the perception and fusion modules. In both projects I had the opportunity to not only develop new practical skills in the field of computer vision and autonomous driving, but to also extend my scientific knowledge by collaborating with experienced researchers and by actively participating in the orchestration of the projects.
