Intraoperative radiation therapy is a new therapeutic technique, which aims to attack cancer cells by applying, during surgery, a single dose of ionizing radiation directly to the tumor. In this way we get the most focused incident beam on the area of interest, maximizing the damage to the defective cells and minimizing the impact on surrounding healthy tissues. Before you can perform a radiation oncology treatment, a careful, thorough and detailed planning process is necessary, taking into account the type of tissue irradiated, the dose to be applied, the size of the damaged area, etc. These schedules are expensive to perform in hospital accelerators, so the presence of simulators that allow reproduce possible treatments in a short time interval and provide the most accurate and true as possible information is necessary too . The objective of this work is to validate one of those codes used for performing schedules, comparing its own results with the results provided by radiochromic films irradiation and subsequent analysis. The best method of analysis (single-channel R, G or B or multichannel RGB) will be determined, and from a given calibration, the characteristics of the irradiated medium will be studied; finally, simulated theoretical results and experimental results will be compared in order to validate the Monte Carlo used code.
