Speaking My Mind - Common sense answers for Australia (Wilkinson Publishing, 2020) About Speaking My Mind: Warren's book covers key issues affecting Indigenous Australians today and Indigenous issues that Australians should be aware of. It also includes articles about the continuing Australia Day debate, of which Warren is one of the most vocal Australians on and whose opinion is highly sought after. After undergoing heart surgery in 2012 and facing his own mortality, Warren Mundine didnt feel he had time to pussyfoot around anymore. He realised he mightnt get another chance to say what he thought. By that time in his life he had already delivered dozens of speeches and written numerous newspaper articles but he began to write and speak much more frequently and truly speak his mind. Speaking My Mind is a curated collection of Warrens speeches and articles, taking the best from over 200,000 words written and spoken by Warren since 2012. He covers topics including reconciliation, constitutional recognition and treaties, poverty, health, energy policy, education, closing the gap, welfare reform and getting people into work. Hes not afraid to call out the lies and hypocrisy of activists as well as Australia's political classes. Show less

Best-selling political memoir – Warren Mundine in Black + White. Overcoming segregation, discrimination, personal hardship and political betrayal… Nyunggai Warren Mundine tells it all in black and white. The highly anticipated and revealing memoir from one of Australia’s most significant Indigenous leaders. Warren’s raw, intimate success story shines a bright and inspiring light showing there is no limit to what you can achieve. His curriculum vitae runs into pages of honours, appointments and awards. So it’s extraordinary to consider that, as an Aboriginal boy in the 1950s, he was a second-class citizen, born into a world of segregation and discrimination that few Australians today are truly aware of. From the poverty of a family living in a tent beside a river, to the depths of depression and an attempted suicide, to the heights of political power as National President of the Australian Labor Party and advisor to five prime ministers, both Labor and Liberal, this is a stirring story of an Indigenous family woven into the very fabric of Australia and its politics. Arguably the most controversial and influential of all Aboriginal leaders, Warren challenges conventional wisdom. One of eleven children in a poor Catholic family, Warren has been on a remarkable journey, from his early life in country NSW, with only one pair of shoes and a single bed shared with three of his brothers, to today where he frequents the highest echelons of power and business. Once an outsider, now an insider, Warren is regarded by many as one of Australia’s national treasures. Warren is one of the most significant and engaging personalities in today’s political spectrum. He offers an insider’s perspective on behind-the-scenes betrayals during his time as advisor to five prime ministers, with startling reveals, exclusive insights and a controversial take on the differences between Liberal and Labor. The Australian Indigenous Chamber of Commerce has been established to bring about self-reliance and economic prosperity for Indigenous Australians and their communities through commercial activity. Its founding principle is that commerce and private enterprise is essential to economic development and genuine self-sufficiency and that Indigenous communities will not move from poverty to prosperity unless the conditions necessary for private enterprise and commerce to thrive exist in those communities. The Indigenous Chamber recognises that a gap exists between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians and that, increasingly, a gap is developing between remote and urban Indigenous communities. The Indigenous Chamber believes that these gaps can be closed without the need for indefinite handouts but through the normal progression to full commercial participation. The Indigenous Chamber also believes that unlocking Indigenous communities to real and sustainable development and bringing all Indigenous people into full participation in commerce will benefit the entire Australian economy. The Indigenous Chamber's agenda includes its Seven Point Reform Agenda launched in April 2013. www.indigenouschamber.org.au Show less

The Queensland Government announced it will recommence uranium mining in Queensland, governed by world's best practice and strict environmental, safety and approval processes. On 30 October 2012 the Government established an independent Uranium Mining Implementation Committee (the UMIC) to examine and report on a best practice policy framework for a Queensland uranium mining and export industry. The Committee delivered its report including multiple recommendations on 18 March 2013 for consideration by Government. The report findings and recommendations cover a wide range of issues investigated by the Committee on the key elements of a best practice framework to be considered. The extensive UMIC report makes practical recommendations about important issues including environmental management and protection, safety and health, economic and community development, the safe transportation of uranium; and community engagement.
