It is one of Australia’s leading providers of turnkey solutions across a range of core capabilities. Over the past 12 weeks, I have been lucky enough to get involved in a wide variety of projects in the bidding and estimation department in Civmec Henderson WA. It was so exciting learning about the key techniques, concepts and procedures involved in bidding and estimation. I had such a great time working with such a diverse and amazing group of people who embody Civmec's key values. It was definitely an unforgettable learning experience. Duties and Responsibilities • Reviewing tender documentation to determine the scope and specific terms and conditions • Update, and report to the Proposals Manager on the tender preparation progress and advise of any difficulties in compiling the tender submission; • Review tender documentation to determine the scope and specific terms and conditions; • Working to the quality management system procedures and work instructions; • Prepare and coordinate the subcontract components required for the tender submission; • Take timely corrective action to address any issued non-conformances; • Obtain highly competitive quotes for the provision of necessary materials and services; • Undertake accurate material take-offs; • Accurately calculate man hour estimates; • Use first principle estimate technique for the development of man-hours using established norms’ • Mobilisation and Demobilisation Costs; • Plant and Equipment required specifically to execute the project; • Develop construction methodology identifying synergies and saving; • Prepare professional tender submission documents in line with client and Company requirements;

Engineering Trainee

Access Engineering PLC is a civil engineering company that is involved in the business of construction activities and supply of construction-related services and materials. Its segments include Construction and Production of Construction Related Material. Its engineering projects include bridges and flyovers, roads and highways, harbours, water treatment plants and water supply projects, land drainage and irrigation schemes, and telecommunication infrastructure projects. Its engineering services include engineering design; geotechnical and laboratory services; supply of asphalt concrete; supply of ready mix concrete; piling; horizontal directional drilling (HDD) and cable jetting services; designing and fabricating light-duty and heavy-duty steel components for machinery and construction projects, and dredging and excavation. Worked as an Engineering Trainee at Access Engineering PLC, Sri Lanka from 05th November 2018 to 25th January 2019 at Construction of Phase 1B of the Nanotechnology Centre of Excellence at the Nanotechnology and Science Park Project at Homagama, Sri Lanka. Duties and Responsibilities - Worked with the Civil Engineering team to ensure engineering processes are followed and standards are being maintained at a high level at all times. - Conducted testing of raw material samples and entered the results into the Quality Management System (QMS). - Presented results and proposed action plan to the Construction Management Team. - Assisted with basic Structural analysis and Concrete Testing. - Assisted with Bar Scheduling and Calculating Reinforcement required for Structures.
