Nurain did a phenomenal job as the moderator for Multiethnic Young Leaders (MYLN)'s 45minute Fireside Chat with the EEO Commissioner, Saunoamaali'i Karanina Sumeo, as part of the MYLN x KPMG Speaker and Networking Series. Nurain stepped in 4 days before the event to fill in for our original speaker, who was unable to moderate due as she was unwell. Usually, moderators have at least 1 month to prepare for the event. However, Nurain managed to have everything prepared and ready to go in a fraction of the time -- she knew the content, connected well with the speaker and audience, and knows her stuff. Nurain has been a Full Member of Multiethnic Young Leaders NZ since July 2021. Full Members are established young leaders who have already made measurable contributions towards furthering racial justice, equity and unity in Aotearoa. They are individuals who have previously been formally recognised for their service and/or leadership potential.

Nurain and I worked together for the youth led Ethnic Youth Vaccination Day. Nurain was the Project Manager for the working group and I had the immense pleasure of facilitating the connection between various groups, offering support and advice along the way. I witnessed Nurain thrive in this role. She did an outstanding job motivating a team of young leaders, delegating tasks, and delivering an overall successful project. She is talented and hard-working and was willing to allocate time and energy for community-led mahi on top of her additional commitments. Her excellent facilitation skills, strategic thinking, and affiliative leadership has been inspirational. I look forward to the opportunity to work with Nurain again.
