Camp Counselor

Dec 2016 - Dec 2018
VIA offered overnight residential respite care for both children and adults with special needs and disabilities, including: developmental delays, learning disabilities, autism, schizophrenia, cerebral palsy, down syndrome, epilepsy, ADHD, ADD, limited hearing, and bi-polar disorder to name a few. VIA offered weekend and week-long special needs camping programs throughout the year, where counselors were paired with 3:1, 2:1, and 1:1 ratios. I typically worked with 1:1 ratios with individuals who needed more support. Our overnight respite programs focused on independent living skills, self-sufficiency, and executive functioning. Each session had a theme and had theme-related activities that included: culinary activities, arts and crafts, physical activity, and dramatic arts to name a few Show less
