Kirstin O'Sullivan

Laura was an Associate Program Officer at The ELMA Philanthropies from October 2015 to November 2017. She was responsible for developing and managing grants in South Africa, Namibia, Zimbabwe and Zambia and worked across multiple sectors including education, health, children with disabilities, and supporting orphans and vulnerable children. Laura is a quick learner and was willing to take on new challenges. She attended a number of conferences, workshops and courses that further developed her knowledge and expertise in monitoring and evaluation, HIV/AIDS, fundraising, and education. Laura is a lovely person to work with and always showed enthusiasm to learn about, and be involved in, different portfolios and programming areas. She has developed skills in all areas of grant development including grantee identification, due diligence, financial review and program monitoring. I have been impressed by how she stayed current with regards to sector and geographic developments and was proactive in sharing relevant articles and updates. Laura has excellent communication skills and is very articulate when both speaking and writing. She developed good relationships with our grantees and partners and was always professional and respectful. It has been a joy to see Laura grow and develop during her time at ELMA and I am excited as she begins her next chapter.
