SHIRA is an organization founded with the goal of connecting students to combat the human-wildlife conflict in both their local communities & communities around the world. We currently focus on sharing our research on topics such as sustainable agriculture, animal protection, plastic usage, and environmental legislation to bring more awareness and promote solutions to this conflict. As the Vice President and outreach leader of SHIRA, I work to market our organization by running social media and designing graphics that encapsulate the messages we try to convey. I also connect with other like-minded environmental organizations on local and national levels to collaborate on research projects so we can help promote our message. Show less

      • Jun 2022 - Oct 2022

As an intern, I worked to aid constituents by responding to their concerns by email and creating databases that track all constituent information to ensure that our office is making their voices heard. I also ran the Assemblywoman’s social media accounts, scheduling, drafting captions, designing graphics, etc. to update her followers on recent legislative action in the state government. I helped start a series on Instagram called “Civics with Sadaf” where the Assemblywoman talked about current events, state legislature, abortion, gun reform, and so on. For this, I wrote the scripts. I also led policy research on environmental legislation with a focus in studying Vermont, the nation’s #1 green state, to more deeply understand how New Jersey can follow suit and become more environmentally-friendly. This research has been put into consideration for the development of new environmental bills for the state. Show less
