JOHN B CULPEPPER, MD, MSBA

As Vice President of the Board of Directors of the Chapala Red Cross (Cruz Roja) Norman demonstrated outstanding leadership, both in providing wise and prudent counsel for the board as well as directing fund-raising events that had a positive impact on the Red Cross’s ability to deliver medical care at the Emergency Room. Norman is a leader of uncompromising moral and ethical principles and one who is dedicated to achieving the goals and objectives of the Red Cross. Exercising diplomacy and sensitivity to the culture of Mexico, Norman has proven time and time again his ability to overcome challenges under difficult and trying situations, but especially when resources are limited. His knowledge, skills, and abilities make him an invaluable part of the Lake Chapala community and to the organization he has so freely given of his time and energy. His influence has enriched the lives of those around him and those who have benefited directly from his work.

Along with six other consejo members, we set policy and raise financial support for this primary response provider. Cruz Roja, in addition to traditional disaster relief, provides emergency ambulance and clinic services to the geographical area around Lake Chapala. We rely solely on donations and recovery of part of our costs from the patients we serve. No government funding is provided so we continually look for support from the Mexican, local expats, grants and donations through our US 501 (c) 3.
