  As executive director of the Iowa Brewers Guild, I act as a voice for Iowa craft brewing on state and national policy matters. I plan and execute Guild events, ensure ongoing growth in fundraising, and manage day to day function and legal obligations of a growing non-profit trade organization. The Guild's primary function is advocating for public policy to support the industry. As such, I monitor the ongoing legislative and policy climate as well as collaborating with lobbyist and associations. Collaboration with other industry leaders as well as a diverse membership is key. I work to build unity in the Iowa brewing community.

  I served as the Chief Administrative Officer for the Maytag Dairy Farms. A 79-year old company under new ownership, my role was focused on implementing new systems and growth for the future. I supervised external communications including marketing strategy and participation in food shows and events. Reporting directly to the CEO, I also help manage strategic vision, external partnerships, and human resources within the company.

  I lead the government relations team for West Des Moines, IA based Hy-Vee, Inc. I oversaw a broad range of issue areas including taxation, food safety and labeling, transportation, workers' compensation, and pharmacy. I focused on education and outreach to legislators and candidates and worked in tandem with state associations and interest groups. I navigated public policy and regulatory issues both on the Federal level and in Iowa with additional attention in the states of Missouri, Minnesota, Illinois, and Wisconsin. I managed the of the Hy-Vee Employees Political Action Committee, serving as the executive director through multiple election cycles.

  I represented the residents of the city of Newton on the City Council. I was elected to a 4 year term in 2011. I focused on economic development and long term infrastructure planning. During my term, I supervised and managed implementation of annual budget throughout workshops and collaborative process. Developed both long term and short-term capital investment strategies to address infrastructure needs. Our council made huge strides in addressing a new strategic plan, new marketing focus, and new collaborative programs focused on growth and modernization. I made communication a focus utilizing social media and maintaining dialog with key stakeholders through out my term.
