      One Acre Fund is a social enterprise based in East Africa that supplies smallholder farmers with the tools and financing they need to grow their own way out of hunger and poverty. As a manager, I supported the TREE team in the management one of trees nursery that produces over 3.5 millions agroforestry trees each year and distributed to farmers in the Eastern province of Rwanda. RESPONSIBILITIES: •Working closely with the Infrastructure team to ensure the nursery’s physical features are adequate and kept up well and suggested improvements that might be needed. This will include things like water access, accessibility to trucks, size, quality of physical materials, and ease of removing the shade cloth for hardening off. •Managing the workers needed to run the nurseries activities. Generally, this included managing permanent & temporary officers who carry out daily activities like watering, weeding, and KPI collection and who help to manage the casual laborers during peak work periods •Oversee officers and casual laborers' activities and run regular training for new ones. •Devise and implement strategies to monitor the quality and speed of the work and incentivize workers to work faster and better. •Make payment requests in a timely manner and follow up on any issues that arise (like failed mobile money numbers). •Oversee materials & inputs acquisition and keep records of all materials received (quantity, quality) and maintain an inventory of any reusable materials, kept a record of anything damaged or lost before the following season •Monitor and ensure the health of tree seedlings in the nursery including daily KPI collection on plant germination, survival, visual health ranking, any symptoms seen, the height of the plant.
