I work with our trainees from pre-production right through to exhibition of the short films they create on the course, and act as a script editor and a producer on the content they produce. I use the skills gained in my Creative Writing Masters to lead Zoom sessions with our Young Writers in character development and story structure to elevate their voices and to help get the best out of their ideas whilst managing expectations of what’s achievable with our budget. Production Design: Costume & Set - Small Changes (Short Film)
-
Aug 2022 - Sep 2022
This was my second role with Hidden Pictures North, where I worked as a production designer responsible for the costume and set featured in the film. The most fun aspect of this role was doing a tour of all the local charity shops to find suitable props to create a family home with an eerie, unhinged feel to it. I was responsible for doing a script breakdown of the costume and props needed, sourcing costume and set items to develop the world-building of Snapshot, and trialing different costume items with actors. I was present on set for all days of shooting to adjust costumes, reset props between takes, and assist in whatever capacity I could to ensure the smooth running of the set. This short film is currently in post-production. Show less

Costume & Set - Snapshot (Short Film)
-
Mar 2021 - Apr 2021
In this role I worked as a Production Assistant on the set of Snapshot with a focus on Costume and Set. I was responsible for doing a script breakdown of the costume and props needed, sourcing costume and set items to develop the world-building of Snapshot, and trialing different costume items with actors. This was a small, stripped-down crew that shot during the Covid-19 pandemic, so a commitment to assisting wherever necessary was essential, I also undertook various tasks as a runner whilst in this role and sat in as an extra. The short has gone on to screen at several festivals around the country. Show less

Subject to postponement of the festival and a move to online exhibition due to Covid-19, this role finished at the end of March rather than the expected end date of June 2020. Show less
