Feb 2023 - Feb 2023
As a volunteer within the Anglia Ruskin University (ARU) student at the heart of knowledge exchange (SHoKE) community, I participated in the "Impact 24 Challenge". This was a 24-hour Policymaker challenge comprising stakeholders' meetings and feedback sessions. I was a member of a team of 4 charged with presenting novel ideas which can be made into policies on "how to ensure undocumented people report crime without fear of repercussion" to Citizens UK - the stakeholder. The team and I presented innovative solutions this included: 1. Linking undocumented people with society by utilizing existing structures, such as trusted individuals, within the community. 2. Use of anonymous forms for crime reporting. 3. Use of an anonymous Identity card. The full report on this challenge was accepted by stakeholders and presented to Council leaders and others at the Citizens' Assembly held in March 2023. This also marked the establishment of Citizens Essex. Show less

Dec 2022 - Dec 2022
As a member of the Anglia Ruskin University (ARU) student at the heart of knowledge exchange (SHoKE) community, I volunteeres in the SHoKE Spotlight Healthy Futures Project. We were tasked by stakeholders- Diabetes UK to present ideas on "How we can support young people living with type 1 diabetes to improve their lifestyle for a healthy, sustainable future?" The time frame for this was two weeks. It included stakeholders' meetings, meeting with academic and health experts, mentorship, and feedback sessions. I presented an innovative idea centered on the reduction of stigma associated with type 1 diabetes through: 1. Community awareness and sensitization 2. Promoting peer support. The strategies' objective was to enlighten people likely to share spaces with people living with Type 1 Diabetes on the appropriate support they could render them. By so doing, a sustainable community strengthened to make life easier for people living with diabetes is established. Show less

Oct 2022 - Oct 2022
As an Impact24 volunteer within the Student at the Heart of Knowledge Exchange (SHoKE) at Anglia Ruskin University (ARU), I collaborated with a team to develop a communication strategy for Essex County Council's "hard to reach" social group. This was a 24-hour consultancy challenge that comprised feedback sessions. We discovered that the cost of living problem exacerbates financial, social, and health inequalities. A few of our communication strategies involved: 1. Utilizing existing community resources and institutions, which this group is familiar with and most likely to use as information outlets. 2. Advertisement on social media platforms and universities. This ensures that information access is easiest for those whom most benefit from it. This strategy was chosen as it is both cost-effective and efficient. Show less
