This role reports to the Chief Financial Officer and I had five direct reports. I was initially responsible for the stocktaking and investigation function managing a combination of internal department counting and outsourced full store counts. My achievements in this area then developed into a role encompassing controlling group security, loss prevention and setting up a group audit team. In the past years, I have reduced shrinkage across the group throughout a very difficult trading period and set up systems to ensure these levels are sustained. I have managed the tender and introduction of a new security provider and restructured the security teams across the group, resulting in a marked improvement in performance whilst making significant cost savings.

    • Stock Distribution Manager
      • Feb 2007 - Aug 2007

This role reported into the Merchandise and Logistics Director and I had seven direct reports. I was brought into develop a stock distribution team working within the buying and merchandise (B&M) function, concentrating on efficient stock distribution. The team would monitor intake of stock and ensure it was distributed in the correct location according to distribution plans agreed by the B&M team and myself. This would involve close monitoring and tracking of all supplier intake to ensure they moved through the distribution centre smoothly and efficiently. We also managed all aspects of continuation products to ensure all stores had the correct stock levels at all times. In conjunction with the store planning team, we undertook a process of collecting the linear sq ft for the entire portfolio of stores and ensuring new and existing store stock packages were right for the store size and environment. This not only assisted in the distribution of new stock but also ensured that stock movements were reduced. This helped improve sell-throughs resulting in lower markdown and greater profit.
