The opportunity to work with huge data sets was what originally brought me into the energy efficiency M&V sector. What has kept me here, is the opportunity to directly affect energy usage in a way that can transform both markets and individual habits to protect our natural resources. We can either build more power generating plants, which are a net negative for the planet, or become more efficient in our use of resources. Experienced in managing half million dollar M&V evaluations for an Electric Utility portfolio. I built the analytical framework and manage programs in various states that report hard numbers for Lost Distribution Revenue, Resource and Capacity Trading Markets, and Residential and Commercial Demand Response. Many of the "big data" problems have data sets with over a trillion rows of data. As smart meters are becoming commonplace in residential settings, high resolution data is becoming available for entire populations. Imagine going from monthly meter readings for a city of 2 million to 15-minute interval readings and you will get a sense of the massive quantities of data we are dealing with. Show less
