  Active research in the mechanics of cerebral arteries. The specific area of my research is damage mechanics (how does mechanical deformation damage the extra-cellular matrix of arteries). I believe that understanding the relationship between mechanical deformation and damage in native arteries can help: 1) Optimize procedures such as angioplasty 2) Improve the product life of biomimetic materials such as heart valves and vascular grafts Active research in the mechanics of cerebral arteries.
