• Designed and led clinical studies using both in vivo/in vitro experiment and computational modeling to optimize electrical stimulation parameters, electrode design, and biomarkers identification. • Postulated a novel heating based mechanism of action of kHz-frequency SCS for pain management. • Investigated the safety and therapeutic benefit of heating in ultra-high frequency Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) using computational modeling. • Developed and disseminated a realistic and anatomically detailed open-source SCS model. • Conducted benchtop-testing on electrical output performance of a custom made high bandwidth IPG and compared it against a commercial IPG used in 10 kHz-SCS studies. • Developed gel phantoms of human spinal cord and brain for in vitro electrical stimulation studies. • Investigated a coupled vascular hypothesis for direct current stimulation (BBB modulation) and other forms of neuromodulation, including SCS, DBS, TMS, and ECT. • Studied the role of electrical stimulation in water flux and solute transport across BBB in rodent model using in vitro and computational studies. • Investigated the safety and efficacy of higher current (4 mA) in transcranial electrical stimulation using an adaptive current algorithm and a novel electrode design. • Tested the feasibility of Non-Invasive Brain Electroporation using computational model. • Statistically analyzed preclinical and clinical data and published them in peer-reviewed journals. • Completed documentations for IRB approval, Patent, and manuscript. • Invented a novel electrode technology to steer current within electrodes during tDCS to enhance safety and tolerability profile. • Designed instrumentation for stimulation and recording skin potentials during electrical stimulation. • Developed a detailed high-resolution skin model to address the role of microscopic structures (including vasculatures) in current flow during tDCS, VNS, PNS.
