Bio
Jamie Denton FCCA, BCS, RITTech
I had the pleasure of working for Nick for three years, during which time he provided impactful leadership during a time of great change for the organisation. He improved operating margins and quality of service, through his leadership of an organisation wide transformation programme from concept through to benefits realisation. This complex programme required the development of new capability in IT and Business Intelligence, the reduction of estates from 22 to 16 locations ; supported by Organisational Development to support staff (almost all were impacted in some way). He was a visible and active leader of the programme as demonstrated by his face-to-face promotion of his vision and engagement with staff at team meetings at all operating bases and across different shift, through to him leveraging trusted relationships with suppliers, customers and stakeholders; ensuring that the project was resourced adequately and that barriers were overcome. Through his encouragement I was able to thrive in my role; as an engaging and empowering leader Nick earned the respect of the wider organisation as well as the teams for which he was functionally responsible for.

As the CFO for NSCP, Nick was the ultimate head of my department, Business Intelligence and Digital. He inspired from the front in terms of transformational digital development, whilst keeping a strong hand on the responsibilities of data protection. NSCP had the most forward focused Information Governance forums I have ever had the pleasure in attending, and where this could have been a difficult and bureaucratic exercise, Nick's involving leadership style really brought everyone together from all sides of the business to understand the purpose of the regulation. Under his leadership we deployed a state of the art, cloud based, BI platform, delivering self service reporting to the operational team across NSCP. This project was not without it's quirks and needed a real Executive champion, Nick made sure this happened whilst challenging the team to ensure value was delivered. I'd work for Nick again in a heartbeat as he is smashing person with fantastic values.
