Project title: Formulation and Evaluation of Benfotiamine and Methylcobalamine Sustained Release Bilayer Tablet for Peripheral Neuropathy The aim of the study was to design multivitamin bilayer tablets containing benfotiamine,B6 and folic acid as immediate release and methylcobolamine as sustained release layers for the treatment of Peripheral Neuropathy. Immediate release layer was prepared using MCCP as disintegrant and sustained release layer using HPMC as matrix forming polymer. The tablets were prepared by wet granulation technique. The granules were characterized by various physico-chemical parameters such as angle of repose, bulk density, compressibility index and drug content . The formulated tablets were also characterized by physical and chemical parameters such as thickness, hardness, weight variation test, drug content, friability and stability studies. All the results were found to be satisfactory. The data for stability studies of optimised formulations revealed that no considerable differences in drug content. The results revealed that the multivitamin bilayer tablet having the formulation code F4 might be suitable for the treatment of peripheral neuropathy.
