Christian Baerend

Collaboration, craft, humility and intelligence are characteristics synonymous with the Product Designer that is Nishant. Infinitely curious to narrow down the root cause of a problem, he goes deep into his research before putting his rigid UX process against findings with thorough documentation every step of the way. Nishant is a rare combination of someone who absorbs large amounts of data and complexity, breathes the value of collaboration while constantly seeking feedback from others as he exposes his deep UX process throughout the entire design lifecycle. A team player by heart, a modest human with strong core values and a product designer whose passion for his craft shows in his work.

→ BrowserStack is a cross-browser testing tool and is one of the fastest growing startups in India. My role as “Selenium Specialist” included: • Writing Selenium tests for complex websites in a wide bandwagon of programming languages including Ruby, Java, C#, Node.js, Python, etc. This included interacting with clients and developing Selenium scripts for their production/staging websites. • I learned various Test Driven Development (TDD) and Behavior Driven Development (BDD) based frameworks like Cucumber, Capybara, Protractor, Galen, etc. to help users run Selenium as well as JavaScript tests on BrowserStack. • Performed usability testing for new features implemented on BrowserStack’s website. → One of the most striking experiences at BrowserStack was when it went through a security breach in November, 2014. It was the time when entire team came together as single unit and worked for around 15 hours each day of the week to overcome the situation. This experience really consolidated my abilities to work in teams and transformed my personality into believing that there is always a solution to each problem. This attitude will help me combat challenges in academics as well as in my professional career. Show less

→ WeChat is a cross-platform instant messaging service developed by Tencent in China. I interned as a 'Product Designer' at Tencent India in Mumbai. • Involved in user research activities for the existing and newly launched features in the WeChat mobile application. • Performed usability testing for new features that were in beta phase and generated reports with analysis and improvement proposals. • Involved in brainstorming sessions that were mainly focused on analyzing the insights gathered via previous user studies. This helped the team understand how a user interacts with the new feature. • Created journey maps for each stakeholder of the product. → The challenges I faced at this internship included coming up with concrete design decisions based on user interviews and developing quick and dirty prototypes to test them. However, this internship played a critical role in shaping my interest and skills in the field of UX. Show less

→ I was a part of the “Smart Mobility” Project at Atos. Following were the tasks I performed while on the internship: • Gave me an opportunity to perform research based on how transitions and animations affect the usability of a product. • Developed an Android application that used Google Maps API and included the feature to retrieve information of all the gas stations in proximity. The user can then check and share reviews for the gas station. Show less
