I worked in Plage de Nyon, part time as a bartender from the Beginning of July until Mid September. Being able to work there had definitely progressed me as a person, developing my service skills, my language skills (In particular French) and they way I carried myself in high stress situations. Especially when there are a lot of in restaurant customers added together with people who wished to enjoy a day at the lake, would come to the bar for a drink. This was definitely an experience to remember and it fueled my drive and interest in Customer Service. It also gave me great insight and knowledge on the importance of regular customers, the benefits of having a business in a good location and a different kind of service style. Show less

Serving in the Swiss military acted as a career gap for me. It was able to teach me things that you do not generally acquire through our normal modern life. It taught discipline, following orders, strengthened not only my mind but body as well. I find this a very important experience especially when translated to normal life and business life. How to adapt in certain situations and how the mentality you have and the discipline you control makes an impact. Being disciplined on small details not just main aspects and how a work life, normal life balance is needed to be found in order to be "healthy". It also helped me conquer the point of sleep, how to still function and maintain quality while struggling. I think all of these are important life lessons which will benefit personal growth. Culinarium Alpinum was my first long internship. With its special concept focusing on alpine foods and locally sourced ingredients it made me realize the importance of sustainability in today's business world. How it can become a unique selling point for an organization and how it attracts different clientele and more. This place recently being awarded 13 Gault Millau points for their cuisine just showed at what level such an establishment can run at and the possibilities that it offers. While working in the service, I experienced a more casual type of service. One that focuses on a slightly more personal interaction between guests. Along with working in the service I also played a role in preparing some ingredients in the kitchen, filling in for some staff sometimes if they were sick at the stewarding and also doing organizational elements such as setting up for Seminars. The work here gave me a deeper understanding of how a hotel is run. Serving banquets for weddings, acting as a runner for drinks and even sometimes as a delivery man for the ingredients, shoveling snow and raking leaves on the terrace, pulling weeds out from the terrace and even picking grapes and various other ingredients from the garden to be used in the dishes. With such a large variety of different tasks, it asked for flexibility, understanding and quick learning. Being able to adapt in the various position and tasks when required. Show less

This was my first Internship which I undertook during the summer of 2019. This was a choice to develop myself in the business world and to develop an initial understanding of the Hospitality Industry. An Industry highly focused on customer service and satisfaction. During these 2 weeks Apprenticeship I worked both in the kitchen and in the service (Breakfast Buffet and Fine-dining Dinner Service). This taught me about the concept of fine dining and how the focus on small details plays a great role in elevating a customer's experience. Putting the plates the right way up, in the same direction for every guest. Focusing on using plate design to subtly increase the viewing pleasure of a dish and so forth. I also got insight to see how a restaurant is run, the amount of time needed to prepare for the service and some of the required skills it took to organize a large team. Show less
