  English teacher to students aged 11-16. I am interested in teaching and learning and getting students to enjoy English whilst making progress. As Key Stage 3 coordinator (English), I am responsible for the English curriculum offered to KS3 students, student progress and ensuring that teachers in the department have the necessary resources to deliver the course. As Literacy coordinator, I am responsible for delivering whole staff professional development, raising the profile of reading for enjoyment and developing student literacy ambassadors. I have organised a number special event days to raise the profile of literacy in the academy. The Leigh Academy won a Kent Literacy award in 2017. From September 2017, I have also taken on the role of Teacher in Charge of our Speech and language provision. This involves SLCN support, intervention and teaching. Show less
