Create, own and manage the day-to-day operations of Parrish Learning Zone, a tutoring business that offers educational services for all subjects to students in kindergarten through college. Since creating the concept with my husband, Jay Parrish in 2010, I have grown the business from a home-based business with one student and one employee to a business located in an 1800 sq ft facility with 55-60 students per week and around 30 part-time employees. My daily duties include: hiring, supervising, and evaluating the performance of licensed teachers assigned to deliver lessons to students in grades K-12 across all subject areas. In addition, I evaluate students and use that data along with input from parents and teachers to create tutoring plans based on a student's strengths and weaknesses. I collect data from assessments, customer satisfaction surveys, and student grades to analyze and evaluate program, teacher, and tutoring effectiveness. Then I design curriculum and write lesson plans for instruction based on student needs, customer demands, and assessment data. I train teachers and assistants on how to use assessments, lessons, and techniques to improve student performance, confidence, and test scores. Show less
