Resilient Urban Centres and Surrounds (RUCas) is a three-year program (2022-2024) supported by the Australian Government - with country specific projects (case studies and scaling strategies) in each of the four countries of the lower Mekong region. RUCaS provides awareness raising knowledge exchange and technical assistance. The program aimed to improve the value generated by investment in urban infrastructure by nature-based-solutions and strategies to upscale NbS. The project aims to support NA and PPA members and staff to perform core functions of a legislature, including the review and development of good quality legislation and practices, and operating in a more inclusive manner that takes account of the diverse experiences of Laos citizens by focusing on key area below: (1) enhancing the capacity of members and staff of NA Committees on Post-Legislative Scrutiny; Financial Accountability and developing a petition management tool/system as appropriate; and (2) Assisting the PPAs to improve and standardized their existing regulation-making practices (Pre-legislative Scrutiny). People for Peat is working on the sustainable use of peatland and haze mitigation in ASEAN program which aims to support ASEAN Peatland Management Strategy through collective actions and enhanced cooperation that improves sustainable peatland management, thus mitigating the impacts climate change, managing the risk of wildfires, and reducing trans-boundary regional haze. The initiative also supports and sustains local livelihoods while contributing to global environmental management. The program is consisted of two components: - The first component is implemented by a coaliation of People for Peat consisting of World Resources Institute Indonesia (WRI), Tropical Rainforest Conservation & Research Centre (TRCRC), and Insiatif Dagang Hijau (IDH) and focuses on improving capacity of Non-State Actors in sustainable peatland management. The project's development objective is to provide long-term funding sources for banks to provide long-term credit to small and medium enterprises. The project will support the growth of privately-owned SMEs by increasing the supply of long-term finance provided by commercial banks and by strengthening the capability of Department of SME promotion to formulate and implement public policies that promote access to finance for SMEs.
