      • May 2015 - Aug 2015

I spent my summer interning at Sedgwick Claims Management Services in Eden Prairie. Sedgwick is the leading global provider of technology-enabled claims and productivity management solutions. The company specializes in workers’ compensation; disability, FMLA, and other employee absence; managed care; general, automobile, and professional liability; and much more. I worked on two sides of the business, FMLA and Short Term Disability. After a 2 week training period for both STD and FMLA, all six of us interns began working on many parts of the claims process. We analyzed data during our mornings and contacted employees about what eligibility they have and what type of claim would be needed for their time off from work during our afternoons. We maintained regular contact with clients throughout the duration of their time off from work as well. I also learned about the importance of customer service no matter what type of business a person is in and how crucial it is to continue growing one’s business.

After 2 years of being of an assistant coach for ACYLA, I obtained a head coaching position for this summer's U15 team. This brought even more responsibilities than last year and I felt that I was prepared for this task. Overall my team did very well and I enjoyed the feeling of being in charge and I definitely will be back next year to coach.
