  I worked in the internal medicine and cardiology department at this CHKS accredited private hospital where I was most of the time on day duty and assigned to the main consultant in cardiology and internal medicine of the hospital.I would do ward rounds with the consultant in general wards and rounds in ICU, CICU, A&E, maternity, paediatric and day care ward.Furthermore, after ward rounds, I would be responsible for daily clerking of patients onto health information system, updating drug charts for each patient making sure they are accurate, preparing discharge summaries, filling in radiology request forms and doing other paperworks, referring patients to other consultants from other departments depending on my consultant advices given based on his or my clinical opinion.Moreover, I was also responsible for seeing patients in A&E, examining them and initiating management and referring to consultants from respective departments whenever it was appropriate.Additionally, I also did some day shifts and night shifts as a house officer in ward where I was responsible for monitoring and reassesing admitted patients in wards such as post-op patients, attending emergencies in wards such as hypoglycemia and initiating management protocols.Furthermore, I also did some shifts in A&E where I was responsible for assessing, examining and initiating and giving treatment and performing procedures such as VBGs, ABGs, IV cannulations, IM and IV drug injections.   I undertook a month placement at the biomedical laboratories of Victoria Hospital in Candos and JNH in Rose-Belle.   Shadow doctor/shadow technician- I spent one week at the heart department and another one at the lungs' one. At the heart department I learned how ECG is performed, observed pacemaker implant and catherisation procedures and cardiac ablation surgery. At the lungs department, I shadowed a group of physiologists. I observed and understood the principles of spirometry and how patients are treated according to their specific lung disease such as chronic bronchitis.
