Au Pair/ Part Time Nanny
-
Sep 2018 - Dec 2019
Following the completion of my degree I chose to move to Paris, France to work as an au pair for a family of three children. I later took on other part time nannying roles including working with children who could not remain in the school system due to behavioural issues and needed extra support in managing difficult emotions. The roles not only allowed me to experience living abroad and further develop my French language skills, but also taught me valuable lessons about childcare and gave me experience working with children and their families to help the children to express their emotions in a healthy and productive way. Local Youth Exchange Coordinator
-
Mar 2017 - Aug 2017
This role involved me working independently to promote and coordinate a six-week long exchange program for Francophone youth aged 15-16. This involved presentations at local high schools and community youth groups, interviewing and selecting local students to spend the summer on exchange in Quebec, and coordinating local hosts and employment placements for youth coming from Quebec. During the exchange, I coordinated and led activities for the participants to learn about Ontario and improve their English. The role also involved employing conflict resolution and communication skills to manage intra-group conflict. Show less
