I single-handedly did the preparatory work for the Prakticum Virtual Learning Project 2021, which centred around designing and developing a virtual space (the entirety of the Prakticum campus) in 3D for the Altspace VR platform. The stylized and low poly approach was a necessary optimization measure with the Altspace VR platform in mind. In total, there are only 56372 faces/ polygons. I modelled this 3D environment according to the building floor plans and reference photos. Unfortunately, this project was put on hold indefinitely due to a change in management and sudden economic issues.

This project is a follow-up unpaid initiative to the "Aalto Project" that involved me working on story-driven 2D/3D animations and two Mobile AR implementations for an Aalto University campus, namely A Grid. The first implementation centred around developing my own working Mobile AR app prototype through Unity + ARCore and the second one through an established Mobile AR solution, namely the Artivive app. In both cases, my digital illustrations installed at A Grid Aalto University campus served as image targets. By downloading the Artivive app and using my mural artworks as image targets, you can experience these animations on any mobile device.A Grid Aalto AR Corner Animation (2nd LIFE): https://vimeo.com/533129817A Grid Aalto AR Corner Animation (3rd ELEMENT): https://vimeo.com/533144813A Grid Aalto AR Corner Animation (4th DIMENSION): https://vimeo.com/533146292For more information, you can check out my Bachelor's Thesis titled "Creating Story-Driven Animations for Mobile AR Applications: Implementing Working Mobile Augmented Reality on a Near-Zero Budget" (public access through Theseus. fi, http://urn.fi/URN:NBN:fi:amk-2020101921412).

Haavn is a brand of furniture, launched in early 2020, which specifically targets commercial use, for instance, in such public spaces as the A Grid campus. I was responsible for making high poly furniture models based on a number of design variations provided by Roman Bentley-Woode, director of the parent London based Reinnoco Design firm. Furthermore, I encouraged the use of Sketchfab for interactive viewing of these models in order to let potential customers see the furniture from any angle in realtime, even in AR or VR. One other input was the cushion connection system for the Ariana F armchair.

I created three digital mural artworks, printed and installed by FinStudio Systems OY inside the I-wing stairwell (floors 2-4, dimensions 6.1 by 1.8 meters) at A Grid Aalto University campus as part of the Aalto Project. Sebastian Sandelin, CEO of Sisätila Design & Interior Architecture, supervised the project. 2nd LIFE is the name for the second-floor level and the mural artwork leading to it in the stairwell. It presents the viewer with a dramatic showdown between a neon Aalto knight and a fire breathing dragon on a cosmic scale.3rd ELEMENT is the name for the third-floor level and the mural artwork leading to it in the stairwell. It presents a condensed overview of the multifaceted Finish natural landscape, the centre of which lies within an isolated island that brings about the digitalization of the surrounding environment.4th DIMENSION is the name for the fourth-floor level and the mural artwork leading to it in the stairwell. It shows the expanding space filled with planets, stars, galaxies, and the owl nebula with its wings enveloping the clearest floor level indicator.

      • Jan 2019 - May 2019

As part of a second game project at TAMK Games Academy, the expanded Instance Games team started working on a 3D platformer. I started drawing digital concept art in Photoshop to determine the style and scale of the game. I modeled most environmental assets, including cacti, floating landmasses, natural platforms, one mob, futuristic tech. Moreover, I remodeled the main character and handpainted the texture. Lastly, I made the official All That’s Left game trailer. The published game had surpassed 1000 user downloads and garnered some traction on the main page of Itch.io, enough so that a few YouTubers made let’s plays of All That’s Left.

The first game project at TAMK Games Academy that the then small Instance Games team of five made. I created all characters in pixel art, a few character animations, all battle backgrounds, Necrox game logo, Instance Games logo, the menu UI, and all of the promo content on Google Play Store. The published match 3 mobile game had surpassed 100 downloads.

In 2018, I participated in the Demola programme (Helsinki). Demola is an open innovation platform that allows students from different universities to work collectively (in English) on a client project free of charge with the prospect of a licensing deal. Our team worked on producing an early Emma Math game concept and prototype for Arffman Group. The initial problem of the project was to find a way to transfer the idea and physicality of Emma Math number pieces into the digital world in the form of a 3D mobile game. Since Emma Math’s main objective is to help 6-8-year-old children understand the basic concepts of mathematics, our team concluded that the best way was to aim for a balance between the entertainment and educational values of the game. I initially had a project manager role in this project, but by the end, I mainly worked on the screenplay, concept, character and 3D game art in Blender. We (the two remaining team members) were able to complete the project past the concept phase, and we won the best pitch award in Business Finland.

I wanted to continue the practise work in Anders Höglund's Architecture bureau/ studio alas my high school forbade me and wanted me to try out something different, even though my soul interest and passion was architecture. Thus I contacted my primary school, Normens Skola, about the one week practice work...thus I worked as a Visual Arts Teacher Assistant Trainee. It was of course a bit of a nostalgia trip and valuable experience, I actually held a lesson during which we all drew president Barack Obama. Otherwise I'd still prefer Architecture over teaching or the visual arts.

    • Architect Assistant Intern (PRAO)
      • Nov 2012 - Jan 2013

When studying in high school, 9th grade, Carlebogrsskolan, I got the opportunity to have practice work at Anders Höglund's Architecture studio (bureau) in Jakobstad. At The time I was certain that I'd become an architect and based on my experience during the PRAO (practice week) and after an extra assignment in form of an illustration/ drawing of one of the upcoming/ future architectural projects this just strengthened my inclination towards architecture. I love history and research and I was so happy to see that being heavily relevant in Anders Höglund's work and projects, one of the structures he worked on and showed me in person was actually following the old path/ street in Jakobstad. I'm not a follower of the faith theory but there were too many hinders on my path of becoming an architect; the high level math studies in IB was taught on an impossible level, by the end nearly everyone dropped out, my Icelandic citizenship didn't allow me to study for a European or EEA fee in the UK and Scotland ( I was accepted by University of Dundee to the architecture course but due to monetary and family issues I had to decline), I took part in the admission process to Politecnico Di Milano (Architecture) and even though I passed the entrance exam in Milan with the mark 32 out of 81 (24 was the minimum) I was put in the never-ending waiting list. I'm still interested in Architecture and perhaps in the near future I'll incorporate all of my knowledge into my game worlds.
