I started working at The Swanston Grand Mercure & The Mercure Welcome in 2009 as a telephonist. My job at the time was to answer the phone using the Alcatel Phone system, program wake up calls, make reservations after hours using Fidelio and provide assistance to guest. I was soon promoted to Receptionist, where my responsibilities were slightly different using the Fidelio system, I checked guests in & out of the hotel, handled cash and credit card transactions, closed guest accounts for third party agents, all whilst providing the best possible customer service to our guest. After 12 months as a receptionist I was promoted to my current job role of, team leader. My responsibilities include but are not limited to, allocating VIP Guest Rooms and allocating any special request rooms, checking in & out of groups, this includes and is not limited to airline crews, ensure that staff members on shift finish their tasks for the day, ensure that there are no outstanding guest accounts and follow up any that are, liaison with the Manager/s on duty with complaints and ensure that they are solved in a timely manner, answer guest enquiries via email, and close the cashier for the shift. The hotel has also had a system upgrade to Opera, I'm now trained and efficient in the use of Opera. Show less
