  Event planner for my local Tower Hamlets London Borough Council. I have extensive experience working with children that have learning and physical disabilities. I have worked with disabled children since I was 16 years old. When I first came to this position, I stressed the importance of highlighting issues surrounding the disabled community such as invisible disabilities and a greater need for accessibility provisions. As a result, within my role as an event planner I am often tasked with planning, organizing and suggesting to the council events that will be useful for the wider community. I successfully worked with a tight budget to plan a Down Syndrome awareness event at a local school where I could share an experience I had being a carer for my own relative who has Down Syndrome. I also emphasized the need for local governments to allocate more resources and funding to protecting vulnerable minority populations. I strongly believe that disabled people should not be neglected by society and they are absolutely able to live fulfilling lives. It just starts with inclusion. I hope to use my role as an event planner for my local council to hold more events and inform the local population of issues surrounding the disabled community. Show less
