A case-control study being conducted at Grady Memorial Hospital, Atlanta to estimate the burden of latent TB infection among newly diagnosed diabetes patients (BATT study). Practicum for this study is providing me with experience in, 1. Responsible for participant enrollment, conducting study protocol, handling legal formalities like consent form, HIPAA policies and other documentation related to IRB regulations 2. Applying Epidemiological methods in enrolling participants for the study. 3. Conducted data collection using questionnaire survey, administered HbA1c test to the participants and facilitated them to clinics and laboratories for TB testing. 4. Handles blood specimens for TB testing. Was responsible for delivering it to the laboratories or store in to the storage unit. 5. Showcased ability to think critically in designing strategies for different audiences to increase the patient enrollment rate of the study . 6. Identify and discuss risk factors and their relationship to the health outcome in the study. 7. Collect and compile the primary data collected and enter it into RedCap system of GSU 8.
