Product Owner: Young Achievers Afterschool Program Design Defining User Profiles: In a cross-functional team with others bringing in expertise of pedagogy, I introduced mapping extreme profiles, understanding various baselines and progress paths for the various user profiles. Understanding user emotions, and their decisions and choices helped make their experience better Parent Empathy Maps: Parents, though, not the primary user are the decision makers. Understanding, empathizing and planning experiences and interactions with them was a key problem that was worked on during the course of the product development. Development of a Learning Process: Learning process with embedded thinking routines and scaffold questions were designed to deliver the desired learning objective. Each Learning Objective was broken down into achievable steps that would provide the framework or tool for the game. Concept Development of the Game: Visualizing and Ideating different game concepts with which the learning objectives can be delivered. Ideas were quickly prototyped, tested with crude game elements. Design of Game Components: Game components define the interaction for the player as it becomes a major part the children interacted with. Ensuring fun and engaging game elements increased the efficiency of the game. Forming Critical User Testing Process: Forming robust and critical user testing procedures. Apart from the entire design process being iterative, the team was open to changing and iterating through ideas at every point. The classes were closely monitored for delivering the learning objectives and the insights were looped back into the design process. Show less
