I worked with Nikita in the same team and he was my direct manager. Nikita is an outstanding data leader with solid management, organizational, and technical skills. Nikita was able to manage and organize the work of our team incredibly effective. Due to these skills, the team consistently delivered high quality results in time and acted as a unified unit, which helped to go above and beyond in achieving necessary results. Moreover, Nikita created an incredibly positive and supportive atmosphere inside the team, which contributed to the overall success of our team company-wise. In addition, Nikita’s solid domain knowledge allowed him to always see a wide picture and help our team to move in the right direction. I feel whenever Nikita is, he is going to stay with the company for long and always work hard to take the company to new heights.

Nikita’s exceptional talent and humble character have made him a very integral party of the ML/DM team in the Deloitte Analytics Institute. He never stops learning and his attention to detail and love for great software products is addictive.

I was involved in a question-answering pilot project that was aiming at enhancing the visitor experience in a museum. The paintings exhibited in the museum have a lot of exciting stories hidden behind the canvas. Getting to know the "WHY"s, the "WHO"s and the multiple hidden details can really change the whole experience. We were working with one of the paintings and had several hours of visitor interview data (in Dutch and English) as well as multiple books and publications discussing the story behind the painting and its technical details. Some of the challenges were to transcribe and translate the data (if you want to work with data, you gotta get the data), prepare the interview data so that we would have clearly defined question-answer pairs grouped by topics as well as deal with the very different formats of the very unstructured larger texts. I was one of two team members with my main responsibilites - preparing the data - using Crowdflower to crowdsource other formulations of questions to given answers as training data for a question/intent classification (using IBM Watson services Natural Language Classifier) - defining the QA flow - design and implementation of a user feedback loop to improve answer quality with time - automatic extraction of texts from pdf files (using python libraries) - processing the extracted texts (splitting into paragraphs, various preprocessing steps using python NLTK, spaCy) Show less
