The center is a part of a crucial country-wide power grid management service. 100 of interconnected computer systems manage balance between power production, consumption and distribution from a nuclear power plant, 16 hydro-, a few thermoelectric power plants and a set of wind turbines, substations and other equipment. In a team of seven I'm responsible for 52 systems in that list. Those responsibilities include: - Installation, configuration, maintenance of variety of systems, SCADA, web-applications, integration services etc, filing requests to developers, tracking issues, customer support; - Configuring, diagnostic and maintenance of MS SQL/PostgreSQL databases with high-availability capabilities, including disaster centers with minimum of 99,98% of accessibility index; - T-SQL scripts, execution plan optimization as well as all kinds of automation in php, Python, VBA, etc; Maintaining project documentation, software and hardware registry, documentation libraries and automated annual personnel performance checkup testing systems; Achievements: - I reverse-engineered a set of 13 integrated systems written in poor PHP legacy code that used 16 databases on MS SQL/ Oracle, reorganized the data structure, reduced database size and response time, simplified and unified the code, adapted it to new technological process and implemented new functions; - Created few apps and scripts that saved hour of work for people in the office; - Resolved a misunderstanding between Finnish, Norwegian and Russian power grid operators and single-handedly facilitated cooperation that ensured safety of cross-border power transfer and shared power grid use. - Developed a solution for keeping disaster centers up-to-date that was later implemented over entire country by "SO UPS", JSC. 0/2,00

Started as helpdesk support and eventually tasks and responsibilities added up to large scale LAN construction supervision and support. Factory based in a remote town included multiple widespread facilities including sulfuric acid production plant, a mine, a smelting plant, geologists and so on. Every facility have got an upgraded network and hundreds of workstations to maintain.
