It was an absolute pleasure to work with Nikhil during his summer 2020 internship. It was an unprecedented period for interns at Boeing to work remote from home due to the Cornoa Virus. However, Nikhil embraced the challenge and raised to the occasion with open mind. Even though he and I were separated between three time zones and thousands of miles, it felt like we were working next to each other during the entirety of his internship. We were able to coordinate on a daily basis to manage his tasks, projects, as well as any challenges or troubles he encountered along the way and planned ahead. He was able to communicate and organize tasks clearly and effectively that he was able to complete every objective and tasks we set out from the beginning of his internship and then some. In addition, Nikhil was able to handle ambiguity and can work independently on tasks with minimal supervision. He was proactive to get an understanding of the projects from a system-perspective and hone in on how his tasks can fit into the larger picture. He was able to pick up new skills (SQL) and utilized his existing knowledge (Matlab) while working on his tasks, he was able to deliver a new tool that help reduced some of our critical workflow from multiple days to half an hour of computation during his short window of internship. Nikhil also paid superb attention to detail, he had the foresight reserved the last week of his internship to compile a tutorial and document every script he wroteto pass on his work to the next person, new or otherwise. His tool is now being used by members of the team to support our statement of work to one of our largest customers (USAF). It was truly a treat to work with and get to know Nikhil during this unique and peculiar summer. I fully believe that his positive attitude and work ethics will enable him to achieve success regardless where his next steps take him, academia or industry. I am eager to discover where his path takes him and what he has in store for the future.
