In this lab, we work on the detection of skin cancer by means of photoacoustic waves. In this lab, I: • Developed a new iterative method for Sound Speed Estimation in a layered medium • Authored and submitted a paper about the aforementioned method for the Elsevier Ultrasonics journal • Prepared multi-layered slabs of skin-mimicking tissues in a lab environment • Used the k-Wave toolbox of MATLAB for the time-domain simulation of acoustic wave fields • Conducted extensive research on ultrasonic and photoacoustic tomography (PAT) systems • Photoacoustic image reconstruction using one of the CNN (Convolutional Neural Networks) architectures called U-net Show less

As a team, our aim is to create a prognostic test kit that facilitates metastasis tracking in breast cancer. Under Electronics Team, I am leading the team to prepare densely aligned Carbon Nanotubes (CNTs) which are going to be used as FET(field effect transistor) biosensors in our project. By measuring the resistance change in CNTs due to the microfluidic system, we are going to be able to track the amount of biomarker protein in the blood plasma. Under the Artificial Intelligence & Software team, we are trying to utilize the data we get from the chip and increase the sensitivity by adding other features of patients, such as demographics, age, sex, cancer background, estrogen level and etc. - Attended and got to the final stage of Teknofest Turkiye 2022 in Biotechnology field as one of the competitors Show less
