Bio
Andrew Ross
I first saw Nigel when he provided a technical presentation at an industry function. I was impressed that, although he evidently had very extensive technical knowledge, he was able to communicate in a non-technical and commercial way (something I find rare among his peers in the IT Forensic industry). Indeed, my assessment of Nigel's skills and credibility was one of the factors that attracted me to Ferrier Hodgson, where Nigel was working at the time. Having joined Ferrier Hodgson in 2006, I was able to work alongside Nigel in my role as head of the forensics practice in the Sydney office. My first impressions were confirmed. Nigel is recognised, even among his peers, as having a superior depth of technical knowledge in the forensic IT and e-discovery fields. However, the thing that marks out Nigel as unique is the way in which he combines this deep technical knowledge with his commercial focus (developed during his time at Coca-Cola) and his ability to communicate with the lay-person (judge, lawyer, client or colleague). Not surprisingly, Nigel has gained a significant core of clients who keep coming back to him for technical advise and expertise. This has resulted in Nigel being the key technical expert in some of Australia's leading IT-related cases (the Kazaa and iiNet cases to name just two), where his evidence has been accepted without question. Because I hold these views, I was delighted when Nigel decided to join me when I moved to KordaMentha. One of the pleasures in professional life is to work alongside people who are both great at what they do and genuinely nice people. Nigel fits this description perfectly.
