Bio
Lars Hansen
I learned Niels Damgaard Hansen to know in January 2011, when he started in a new role as head of quality for the Danfoss Refrigeration and Air Conditioning division. Key target was to build a new quality organization to improve product quality performance for the division. I reported to Niels until he got a new assignments approx. beginning of 2016. Niels succeeded in building a powerful and performing organization, including quality assurance across the entire division: Customer quality, Supply Chain quality, supplier quality, R&D quality - all supported by TS16949 (IATF16949) certified management system. The result speaks for itself: E.g. Product quality was improved by a factor 10, supplier quality improved by a factor 15 during this period. Niels played his role as a true leader, constantly challenging us in the team to take up deeper and wider responsibilities but in balance with capabilities and time available; results were created by a super team spirit, wellbeing and motivation - thanks to Niels. Outside the team, in the various factories, global functions, and on group level Niels is perceived as a great inspirator and motivator for quality performance. I deeply regret that he now leaves Danfoss, and I would really not hesitate to team-up with him again, either as peers or reporting to him again. I can only express my warm recommendation.

It is my pleasure to recommend Mr. Niels Damgaard Hansen. For the period of almost two years, I reported in a dotted line to Niels, in his role as Vice President Global Quality at VELUX. I was the assigned Senior HR BP to the Global Quality function, and HR representative within his leadership team. During this time, period, the assignment was to establish, for the first time in the over 70 years company history, a Global Quality department and incorporate it in the overall Supply Chain organization. Niels has shown the right mix of knowledge in Supply Chain in general and the Quality function in particular. As a leader he balances a strategic mindset with practical solutions in day-to-day situations. For the restructuring of the Q-function he incorporated the single factory Q-teams, in the new global department. Being aware of cultural differences and especially his experience interacting with Eastern European countries, made him successful in his role. I like to extend my best wishes to him, in his future endeavors and am certain he has a lot to offer in know how, leadership and handling various, challenging situations.
