Since grade school I've been writing plays and stories in order to make sense out of my existence. Because of a whimsical view of the world, most of my work has been comedic in nature. Of course, my grade school comedic texts were perhaps not my best work. Having written over 20 plays and having produced most of them, having had some of them produced for me, and having some still waiting to be born, I have a pretty good handle on what makes a good story. In fact I have turned most of my life into interesting stores. Studying Hinduism at McGill, I was excited to find other cultures who did the same - using fantastic stories to help illuminate the laws of the world, and using humour to point up the absurd - or to soften the blow - in our realities. As I've gotten older I've had the opportunity to explore storytelling in almost every medium I come across. Photography is another way to tell a story, but with a picture instead of words. Theatre is a way to tell a story both physically and through powerful words, which I always felt was a delicious blend. As my work crosses over into the business world I see that there are just as many opportunities (and need) for storytelling, not only in marketing, and the brave new world of ever-changing social media platforms, but also in leadership, and in communication at every level. I love that I can bring my ability to tell stories to bear on things that have real impact in the world. Knowing that I've made a real difference - whether it's as simple as making someone laugh, or as complex as helping someone come to a new understanding of their own power of communication - is a great and rewarding way to experience my life. I'm pretty lucky that way.

A straight shooter who likes to capture people at their most confident and relaxed, I specialize in headshots, capturing events, theatre, media, and bands. I also love to shoot and cut corporate video in creative and unexpected ways. I have shot and edited internal videos for Cenovus as part of their change management strategy. "Ace practitioners of the dying art of sketch comedy...never a dull moment"- Martin Morrow FFWDObscene but not Heard has been ranked the number one sketch comedy troupe in Calgary on an arbitrary list that, let's be honest, they compiled that themselves. They have been getting big laughs from audiences for over 15 years with shows like "Glengarry Glen Beck", "Jihad me at Hello", "Fahrenheit 7-11" and "Cirque du So Lame". They also participate every year in the Ten Minute Play Fest at the High Performance Rodeo, spinning an assigned prop into comedy gold in just 24 hours. Troupe members Tony Binns, Trevor Campbell, Peter Strand Rumpel, Nicole Zylstra and guest artists Tammy Roberts and Stan Janz delight in the extreme, satirical, and just plain odd.

In my time working at the Glenbow I had the opportunity to deliver many exciting and diverse Interpretive Programs. During the Toulouse Lautrec exhibit I haunted the hallways as Jane Avril, interacting with patrons one on one to help illuminate not only details on the art works themselves, but also on Lautrec's life, with the authority of a personal friend. In other less dramatic contexts I gave tours and talks on the Celtic Bog People, the Art of the Mediterranean, the Neo-Classical Architecture of Stephen Avenue, and Emily Carr; each time I felt my ability to bring information to life through parallels and stories really helped connect visitors exploring the exhibit with the things they were looking at. For me, being able to interpret something for someone into a context they can understand, to see their eyes light up knowing that we are sharing the same fascination for people and places in our past, made my job a thrill. As a Program Co-Ordinator, I was most thrilled to be able to bring Vietnamese Water Puppetry to the Glenbow Theatre, commissioning the Green Fools to present a show in this style, and bringing new communities into the Glenbow in unparalleled numbers.
