Managed archaeological investigations, designed and implemented strategic planning and goal-setting strategies. Promoted heritage tourism, conducted public outreach event planning, audience development, grant writing, and volunteer recruitment. Served as Project Director and then Principal Investigator for the Tampa Bay Historical Shipwreck Survey (TBHSS), a project initiated in 2006 by The Florida Aquarium (FLAQ) to locate, investigate, assess, and interpret the submerged cultural resources present in the region. I managed and directed all aspects of historic research and archaeology ranging from background and literature review, archaeological survey, evaluation, excavation and analysis. The successful implementation of this project relied on extensive training of volunteer divers to assist archaeologists in the field. This project received nine years of funding through matching grants provided by the State of Florida Historic Preservation Board and the Preserve America Program. In 2011, fieldwork was interfaced with a National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration education grant, providing live interactive video feeds recorded from shipwreck sites around the Tampa Bay region of SEAS archaeologists answering questions from students visiting FLAQ. The TBHSS is also responsible for relocating and recording USS Narcissus and submitting the nomination to successfully designate this Civil War ship as Florida’s twelfth underwater archaeological preserve. As a public archaeology professional, I collaborated with nonprofit organizations, and public history and archaeological professionals to design and implement public outreach programs, activities and lesson plans, and conduct professional development training. I also produced archaeological educational curriculum based on Common Core standards and STEAM/STEM content to present real world research in innovative and engaging ways. Show less
