- Led a systematic literature review of existing UK and Irish datasets containing data on maternal BMI. Developed a protocol, conducted a search strategy and managed data. Produced a detailed report, which will be revised for publication. - Liaised with researchers from UK and internationally with the aim of developing a network of researcher teams with a shared interest and promote future collaborations. - Instructed 9-year old children at performing several physical activity tests as part of a research project looking at the association between BMI, physical activity and quality of life in schoolchildren. Co-author of a scientific abstract and a conference poster. - Trained two research associates in data collection and successfully gathered all the data in the limited time I had. - Worked effectively as part of a team of 4 researchers and developed an online survey questionnaire for a national survey on screening for gestational diabetes in NHS maternity services, will be a co-author on a publication. - Collaborated with my supervisor at developing an ethics application for a project looking at the diet of breastfeeding mothers. - Supported an MSc student to develop a systematic review strategy and worked collaboratively with another student on placement at data entry and data management. - Developed my own research proposal and successfully obtained funding from The Nutrition Society and Newcastle University Research Scholarship. - Used social media to promote activities and keep the members of our page informed. Worked as part of a team of 4, being responsible to guide, inform and assist 80 Singaporean students with any queries or concerns they had during one month of their stay in Newcastle as part of an annual Overseas Immersion Programme organised by the faculty. Marketing Intern

As a marketing intern I have been assigned responsibilities such as monitoring and reporting about the Media Plan realization of Nestlé’s TV Commercials, investigating about competitor’s sales promotions on infant foods and assisting with ideas regarding product promotions. The highlight of my experience has been the Mystery Shopper project, which provided real data and useful observations to the senior management team. The report analysed the level of assistance that customers received from customer advisors when choosing to buy infant food products. It was a rich practice that boosted my confidence, improved my data analysis and IT skills and more importantly pushed me to think creatively. Skills obtained: • Developed excellent written and verbal communication skills through writing insightful reports. • Data analysis and interpretation skills • Used Critical thinking in product analysis and in writing internet overviews. • Conducted field research to investigate competitor’s sales promotion. • Worked independently in accomplishing tasks. • Designed and created a framework that summarized my intern experience in a creative style.
