I'm inspired by the energy, insight, and deep passion that Nicole brings to her work. Nicole is able to wear many hats at once - organizing rapid-response campaigns, building and growing a team, on the ground connecting online and offline organizing and advocacy - and achieve success in all areas of her work. Nicole is exceptionally skilled in online organizing and new media, and she is always looking for new ways to build communities through digital tactics. She's built our immigration campaign into a strong, engaged community, and I consider her a huge asset not only to any organization she is with, but to the entire progressive movement.

Nicole gets results. She works hard and has an enviable knack for conceiving creative ideas and methodically executing on them. She came to CCC at a time when our online immigration work was needed a strategic boost, and she delivered that. Nicole utilized and grew our existing SMS and email membership through smart campaigning and strong project management. She's a tremendous asset to any team lucky enough to have her.

Worked with petition starters to craft national media-fueled campaigns. Ran campaigns that touched on LGBT, trans*, disability, and veterans rights. While at Change.org, my campaigns had a combined total of nearly 1 million signatures, media hits with more than $1 million in ad revenue, and two campaigns were victorious (totaling 720K+ signatures). Campaign highlights include: - Justice For Quinten (http://www.change.org/justiceforquinten) -- Assisted petition starter in optimizing petition text, interviewing with press outlets, built out petition delivery and press conference all to support the starter's campaign. VICTORY (~500K signatures): Oklahoma Department of Human Services vows to change internal policies based on inefficiencies highlighted in this campaign; Republican state legislator introduces legislation providing further protections for disabled children who need Child Welfare Services - Roxy: Stop Sexist Ads (http://www.change.org/roxy) -- Assisted petition starter in optimizing text and delivering signatures to the decision maker. - Victoria's Secret: Hire a trans* model (http://www.change.org/VSAngel) -- Assisted petition starter in optimizing petition text, collaborated with comms manager to write and send press releases with more than 200 press hits. • Director of Online Organizing

As the Director of Online Organizing, I was tasked with co-developing the organization's community engagement strategy to turn our community of movie viewers into a community of activists. Specifically, I oversaw how our users could become increasingly engaged with our work through online channels. Along with the Director of Community Engagement, we built a program to take online users through a ladder of engagement eventually pushing them into offline actions and trainings to change the way Stuff is made, used, and thrown away. My work included: - Co-authoring a large-scale, three-year strategic vision of our online and offline engagement plan. - Migrating our database form Salesforce to the more advocacy-focused platform Blue State Digital so we could run nimble, easy-to-execute campaigns. - Developing and executing a 6-month content strategy across all channels -- email, blogging, and social media -- to introduce our community to new content and slowly integrate hard-hitting asks. - Introducing data, measurement, and weekly metrics reports to our digital work. - Growing our online community from 370,000 to 440,000 in just 6 months. In the Spring of 2011, I was tasked with rebuilding and growing the online wing of the immigrant rights movement under the campaign Reform Immigration FOR America, a project of the Campaign for Community Change. To be successful in this role required the ability to switch between strategy and planning, management of the team, and execution of tactics at any moment. As this position resided at the intersection of advocacy, organizing, and digital, my responsibilities were incredibly diverse. They included: - Developing a large-scale strategic plan by performing a SWOT analysis, analyzing previous work, and interviewing coalition members to gain different perspectives of desired outcomes. Wrote analysis, provided recommendations, developed messaging plan, and presented final strategic plan to the coalition. - Growing our community through an integrated paid and organic list-building strategy from 700,000 members to 1.1 million members across all channels -- email, SMS (text messaging), Facebook, and Twitter. - Providing digital support for mass mobilizations. - Training staff, coalition partners, and on-the-ground organizers in digital organizing best practices. - Supporting national and state partners in developing their own digital programs -- from writing a strategic plan to hiring digital staff to developing electoral plans. - Managing a $1 million annual budget; two staff members and an intern; and relationships with coalition members, vendors, and consultants. - Project managing a website redesign to take emphasis off of heavy content-creation in order to grow and build a more nimble digital program focused on email, social media, and SMS campaigns. - Expanding our online presence to Instagram and Pinterest in order to build out our ability to be powerful digital storytellers. In the 8 weeks leading up to Power Shift 2011, a three-day youth climate change summit, I supported the Online Director to grow our online community, build excitement for the summit, and communicate with attendees during the conference.
