Assisting in the development and production of New Conservatory Theatre Center's YouthAware Educational Theater program. "YouthAware educates about important issues for youth that might otherwise be difficult to approach in a classroom setting like diversity, homophobia, stereotypes, labeling, gender expectations, peer pressure, student rights, and school safety. The YouthAware Educational Theatre program at NCTC was created in the late 1980’s, at the height of the HIV/AIDS epidemic, when a need was identified for theater-in-education to help alleviate fear and prevent misinformation about the disease. Most of our YouthAware scripts have been developed in house, and youth voices were involved in the process of developing all of our scripts. YouthAware programs provide an opportunity for educators to start a conversation about an important issues on campus, or continue work that is already begin done in the schools to educate around these hard hitting issues."http://www.nctcsf.org/youthaware Show less
