The first of two planned books from the project, Semut, received the Prime Minister's Literary Award for Australian History (2022) and the Australian War Memorial's 2022 Les Carlyon Prize. It was also shortlisted for several other awards, including the NSW Premier's History Awards Prize for Australian History.
