  Through this role, I coordinated multiple rounds of interviews, set up interest meetings, and hand-selected members who met the qualifications to be a PH Intern. As VP of Recruitment, I discovered how it feels to be on the opposite side of the table - to be the interviewer, not the interviewee. This position gave me immense responsibility and taught me how to fairly evaluate my peers and how to help lead one of the largest peer health organizations in the US.

  Project Health (PH) is a peer health education organization that provides internships through UA’s Student Health Center. As an Intern, I have weekly shifts where I educate peers about various public health issues relevant to college students. Each semester, I lead programs on alcohol and sexual health in classes and residence halls. We cover topics such as substance misuse, mental health and social determinants of health. As an organization, we reach over 500 people per day.

  As an intern at Newsom Eye Surgery and Laser Center, I worked as a research assistant observing and assisting on an Alcon sponsored FDA study concerning the Acrysoft Extended Depth of Focus (EDOF) Intraocular Lens. I assisted on this research and helped create a poster for this study along with another intern. Our poster was accepted into the online American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery conference and presented this poster at the online American Academy of Ophthalmology conference in the summer of 2020. During my experience as an intern with Newsom Eye, I was also able to shadow retina specialists, cataract surgeons, and plastic surgeons within the practice. Show less
