  The CGT was established by President Lee C. Bollinger in 2006 with the mission of enhancing the university's engagement with issues of global importance. The project Thoughts on a Changing World engages youth, practitioners and a variety of Columbia faculty to identify the most pressing challenges facing global youth today and develop policy recommendations.

The project RAP Basic Agreements aims to develop consensus among diverse politicians around fundamental issues in national politics.
